A Ubiquity project for the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre (pronounced in-ka-meep) through Aldrich Pears and Associates.

The exhibit design firm had written an RFP that specified a documentary film for the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre theatre. The RFP contained a long list of items that needed to be included in the interpretive narrative. The objective was to tell the story of the Nk’Mip people and the land. Our team proposed breaking the requirements and including all the talking points in a dramatic film. The result was Coyote Spirit.
Our team worked with the Elders to research the community and the land. The production was filmed on location on the OIB Reserve. All performances were First Nations from the Band and neighbouring communities. The soundtrack features Native musicians and traditional instruments recorded for the piece.
